We shall focus on the eastern neighbours of the European Union, specifically Ukraine and Belarus. We plan to look at aid and support initiatives by western church-related organisations towards those countries, with consideration of the ecumenical dimension, and at how these initiatives might be developed in the context of the EU's Neighbourhood Policy. Peter Pavlovich from the CEC Church and Society Commission in Brussels, who is involved in Ukraine in the context of the EU Neighbourhood Policy, Neville Kyrke-Smith, director of Aid to the Church in Need, who has projects in Ukraine, and Roland Smith, former British ambassador to Ukraine, are all intending to be with us. We are also planning to have one or more representatives of aid organisations working in Belarus to tell us of their experiences, and someone from the European Commission to explain the history, aims and current work of the Neighbourhood Policy.

Pricing/Booking:

The cost of the conference, including lunch on the Thursday, will be around £130 per person (en-suite room) or £100 (standard room). Day visitors will also be welcome at reduced pro-rata rates.

We plan to send out more information about the programme, and a booking form with confirmed prices, when these are finalised. Meanwhile we would much appreciate it if you would send in your reservation, so that we can begin to get an idea of numbers. Accommodation is limited and we shall reserve it on a first-come-first-served basis.
