CCT Friends in Mission Bursary and the Norfolk Street Partnership

May 2019

Applying for a CCT Friends in Mission bursary was the ‘easiest thing to do’, according to the trustee of the Norfolk Street Partnership.

Irene Moore has described the help the group was given to enable them to stay at the Belsey Bridge conference centre in February as “phenomenal” and recommends others take the opportunity to benefit from the fund.

She said: “We are a group of people that go into Norwich on a Saturday between 10pm and 4am – there are 18 of us, known as City Pastors, who, together with other agencies, help bring a calming presence to the night time streets.”

A group of 10 City Pastors applied for a Friends in Mission bursary to provide them with a break for team-building and the opportunity to get to know each other better.

Irene added: “Spending time together in a quality environment makes such a difference to the way we operate.”

Arriving at 5.30pm on a Friday, the group shared a meal, socialised and prayed together in the evening before embarking on training on Saturday.

Irene said: “We met with the ‘companions’ of Emmaeus House which was so helpful for us.

“We met for poetry, music and a lot of fun Saturday evening after dinner and shared a morning Holy Communion service on Sunday. Later we enjoyed lunch before finally meeting to review our weekend. We all agreed that any future new recruits would really benefit from this time away”

The Norfolk Street Partnership has stayed at Belsey Bridge twice and has been successful in receiving a CCT Friends in Mission bursary on both occasions.

Irene added: “It really is an amazing help; without it we wouldn’t be able to do it. It truly is the perfect place for any groups and organisations to meet. The conference rooms are wonderful and the facilities make life so easy. The centre is in a quiet location, which is good for groups like us, as a Christian organisation we like to have an area of quietness. The staff are exceptional.

“After hearing about the bursary I filled in an online form, which was very easy to complete.”

The bursary for 10 people helped towards the cost of accommodation, the use of conference rooms, breakfast, lunch and dinner for our group of 15.

The Friends in Mission Grant Scheme is directed at Christian charities, community, volunteer and church groups who, for financial reasons, are unable to make use of our conference centres. If you are interested in applying for any of our bursaries please visit Friends in Mission Bursary Scheme.
