Changing lives by empowering leaders

May 2023

Ground Level Network have been coming away to The Hayes for almost 20 years. What started as a few church leaders coming together to support each other, has now grown into a nationwide network of churches that support and care for one another. We talked with Jason, Operations Manager at Ground Level Network, to find out how lives are being changed by empowering leaders.

The value of bringing your church leaders away

One of the big things that we hear every year are the value of relationships that are built and strengthened through coming away. It’s so important to have that unique time in the year when you can just connect with people, chat, discuss different issues, and then be equipped and filled up to go back to your own context.

Lives being changed by empowering leaders at your conference

In the last few years, we’ve seen a couple of leaders that have been new to the network, really plug in and invest. As a result, they’ve come from a place of feeling quite isolated, to seeing huge improvements for both them and their teams. We’ve seen leaders who were trying to figure things out on their own, now in a position where they have a group of people around them championing them. On the back of the pandemic, many church leaders felt isolated and lonely. But, to then come back together again and build that relational empowerment has been great.

The importance of atmosphere during your time away

The aesthetic in the room's quite important to us, so when we've used the Derbyshire Hall, we've always put in extra staging, a backdrop and lighting to make the room feel engaging. I think sometimes you don't value enough the impact that the setup has on the attendees. Getting that right creates a great atmosphere for people to engage in the content. The Hayes is the only place that can accommodate our numbers for residential and catering all on one site. So, we find that for that reason, it works great for us.
