Earlier this year, we shared the exciting news about the creation of the Kitchen Garden at High Leigh. At the time, the beds were freshly planted and the vision for a sustainable, productive space was just beginning to take shape. We are delighted to share that the garden has now blossomed into a thriving hub of life and colour.
The kitchen garden flourishing.
Where once there were rows of seedlings, there is now a rich array of fruits, vegetables and herbs, all flourishing under the care of our grounds team. Raised beds are brimming with vibrant lettuces, spring onions and kale, while strawberries and cherry tomatoes spill over their borders, ready to be picked.

Apple and cherry trees are bearing fruit along the walled edge of the garden, and kumquat & orange trees in pots add splashes of bright orange.

A variety of herbs are thriving too, including rosemary and mint, which are regularly harvested for use in our kitchens. These herbs not only add wonderful flavour to the dishes served at High Leigh, but also release a delightful fragrance as you walk through the garden.

The garden is also a feast for the eyes. Tall sunflowers stand proudly at the edges, and attract bees and butterflies, supporting biodiversity. A peaceful pond at the back of the garden is now dotted with water lilies, creating a calm and reflective space within the garden.

This year’s growth is a testament to the vision behind the kitchen garden: to provide fresh, seasonal produce for our guests while creating a space that benefits the environment and enhances the grounds. Many of the fruits and vegetables you see in the garden are already finding their way onto the plates served at High Leigh.
We are thrilled to see how the garden has developed in such a short time and look forward to the months ahead as we continue to nurture and expand it. If you’re visiting High Leigh, we warmly invite you to take a stroll through the garden. It’s the perfect place to pause and enjoy the beauty and bounty of God's creation.
