As part of our mission to serve the Church, we work hard to provide the best quality facilities possible. That means we are constantly updating our venues, whether it is a fresh lick of paint, or a top to bottom refurbishment. There are many things we invest in that you don't see such as a new roof or the air conditioning unit. Regardless, we feel each investment into our centres is an investment into the Church. So without further ado, here are 6 updates we've made to The Hayes.
Over the last year we’ve been refurbishing bedrooms in the main house. One of our main house family bedrooms, room 55, has recently been completely refurbished and is back in use after a full makeover. The room has been refreshed to create a more comfortable and practical space for families staying with us, and it is already being well used.

Our soft play area was previously located in Orchard Hall, but has now moved to the Book Room which can be accessed through the lounge. This gives our younger guests a safe, welcoming environment to enjoy throughout the year. In time, Orchard Hall will be redeveloped into a family and children’s seating space, with the aim of linking it with the outdoor play area.

You can now unwind over a competitive game of pool on our new lounge table. What better way to end a productive conference day then play with your friends and family in our relaxing lounge environment.
Cues are available from behind reception, and the table has already become a popular feature of the lounge area.

We are pleased to share that we now have a new Head Chef at The Hayes, with new menus currently in development. These changes aim to strengthen the overall food experience for our guests and continue improving the standard of service in our dining areas.
We have also welcomed two new dining room supervisors who are helping to support the team and ensure smooth service. Together, these additions are helping the kitchen and dining areas run well and serve guests more effectively.

Our maintenance team now has a new tractor with a snow plough attachment, which will be a great help during winter weather. This will allow us to clear roads, paths, and access points more efficiently when conditions are difficult.
Having this equipment on site means we can respond more quickly and keep the centre safer and more accessible for both guests and staff.

A number of important upgrades have recently been made to our heating and air-conditioning systems. The kitchen has had a brand-new air-conditioning system installed, along with an upgraded extraction unit, improving airflow and working conditions.

The bar lounge now benefits from a new heating and air-conditioning system, and the Derbyshire Hall and Main Conference Hall had new systems installed in December. Looking ahead, the Chatsworth and Haddon dining halls are due to receive new heating and air-conditioning systems in March 2026. These changes will move us away from older boiler systems and help improve efficiency and environmental impact.
All of these systems can now be controlled from reception and adjusted for individual meeting rooms, giving better control over comfort levels while using energy more wisely.
All our profits go straight back into our venues to help better serve God’s kingdom. Whether it’s things you see like new conference room TVs or refurbished furniture, or things you don’t see such as air conditioning or kitchen equipment, it’s all necessary in upkeeping our high quality services.
