Explore the stunning
Peak District

The Hayes is situated in the Amber Valley, the heart of picturesque Derbyshire. The area is rich in history and heritage, tranquil villages and bustling market towns, all on the doorstep of the Peak District National Park.

From the high moorland in the north, to the deep dales and hills in the south, the Peak District and Derbyshire have just about any landscape you could imagine. With 555 square miles of parkland, it’s one of the finest areas to visit in the UK.

Walking and Hiking

The Peak District National Park, with its diverse landscapes and stunning views, is just begging to be explored. Every year 10 million people visit these limestone valleys, green open spaces, caves, lakes and reservoirs.

Whether you take in the beautiful National Trust Longshaw Estate, Climb Mam Tor, ‘The Shivering Mountain’ or explore the Derwent Valley Mills, you are guaranteed an unforgettable experience.

Discover beautiful, historic England

The Peak District shows you glimpses of history from every social class.

Located near Bakewell, Chatsworth house is steeped in history and is a stunning example of a British stately home and garden.

Step back in time to the Edwardian era at Lyme Park, House and Garden, which was used as a location for the BBC adaptation of Pride and Prejudice, starring Colin Firth.

You may also want to check out the UNESCO World Heritage Site, Arkwright's Cromford Mill, learn about lead mining at the Peak District Mining Museum and discover Derbyshire’s deep ceramic heritage at Royal Crown Derby and Denby Pottery.

Get your adrenaline pumping

The Peak District’s varied terrain makes it perfect for many unique experiences. As well as its cycling trails and rock climbing opportunities, it is also well known as a fantastic place to go caving. You will even find watersport centres in the reservoirs between the steep hills and deep valleys.

For something exciting but a little more sedate, do not miss 'Heights of Abraham' with its cable car journey across the Derwent Valley, just a 30 minute drive from The Hayes.
